Can You Help Us Preserve The Scole Archive?

We began the Scole Archive in 1998
We are Grant Solomon and Jane Solomon (Grant & Jane), authors and lead researchers of the Scole Archive.
In 1998, the Scole Experimental Group asked us to take on the important task of archiving and sharing their data.
Our 1999 book, The Scole Experiment, began that process, and we have been carrying on the archival work on a volunteer basis ever since.

Dealing With A Tenfold Expansion Since 2023
Between 2023 and 2025, following the passing of three of the four Scole Group members, our role as archivists shifted dramatically.
We received a ten-fold increase in the materials requiring preservation, including 406 of the original 464 two-hour session audio recordings (we are currently trying to track down the remaining tapes).
Archiving this massive influx of data for posterity—including the monumental task of digitising, cleaning, and transcribing these sessions—suddenly required a completely new level of infrastructure and resources.

Uncovering the Missing 90% of Data
Many people following the Scole Experiment are surprised to learn that almost everything publicly known about it is based on just 37 of the 464 sessions—specifically those attended and reported on by scientific members of the Society for Psychical Research and their colleagues.
The expanded archive is already yielding exciting new data about those 37 sessions, but more importantly, it is unlocking the remaining 90% of the sessions that have remained largely unseen by the wider world.

New UAP/UFO and Non-Human Intelligence (NHI) Data
A crucial element of this unseen data involves UAP/UFO and non-human intelligence (NHI) communicators.
These entities began making regular contact—or at least formally identified themselves—in October 1997, roughly four years into the Scole sessions.
We look forward to sharing these and other new discoveries with Friends of the Scole Archive and the wider Scole community as we uncover them.

Supporting the Archive Preservation Task Today

To manage this undertaking, we have had to invest heavily in modern computer hardware, AI software subscriptions, digital data hosting, videography equipment, and physical archival storage.
Furthermore, the day-to-day work of archiving, cross-referencing, and public sharing—via Scole TV and our online platforms—requires funding to sustain the thousands of hours required to process the data.

The Task Ahead––Uploading The Archive
Our goal is to make the entire archive publicly accessible in three formats:
- Introductory: Short-form content to encourage engagement from those new to Scole.
- Guided: Explanatory deep-dives based on our decades of knowledge and experience.
- Raw: Unedited archival data for independent researchers to interpret for themselves.
Securing Scole Archive for Future Generations
This was one of the most important experiment in history. The archiving work must continue after us. The Scole Archive will also need ongoing, regular, funding for future maintenance and growth when we hand it over to the next generation of archivists.

Non-Financial Support and Volunteering
We are exploring ways to collaborate with Friends of the Archive who possess specific technical skills. For example, we urgently need assistance with the digital audio cleaning of the original session tapes so all speakers can be heard distinctly. While we are researching professional audio restoration services—which we hope to utilise if our current fundraising is successful—we also welcome connections with Friends who have high-level audio engineering experience.
In the future, as the archive infrastructure becomes more established, we will also be seeking volunteer transcribers. Currently, Jane (who has by far the best linguistic ear of the two of us) is committing many hours per week to this task. Depending on the audio quality, transcribing a single 90-minute tape (2 x 45-minute sides) can require an investment of 30 to 50 hours of meticulous listening and typing.
While we have tested various AI audio-transcription solutions, they simply aren't up to the task. Unless a tape recording is absolutely pristine, current AI struggles to distinguish speaker voices from the complex background phenomena and tape artefacts, such as hiss and hum. Because of this, dedicated human transcription remains the only way to ensure total accuracy.
If, as a Friend of Scole Archive, you have the time, patience, and skills to contribute to this historical transcription effort, please stay tuned. We will let the Scole community know via the newsletter as soon as we are ready to coordinate a volunteer transcription team.
